Bronx Museum of the Arts /Artist in the Market Place

The Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) program, now in its 35th year, provides professional development opportunities to emerging artists residing in the New York metropolitan area. The program consists of a 13-week seminar that addresses practical concerns, and cultivates networking opportunities. Every two years, AIM introduces the work of 72 artists to a greater audience via exhibition and catalogue. Participating artists are encouraged to build their networks through the program's collaborative structure.

Every year a panel of five arts professionals selects thirty-six artists to participate in the AIM program. AIM sessions are led by a faculty of specialists, including: Jane Dickson, Kianga Ellis, Lia Gangitano, Sergio Muñoz Sarmiento, Melissa Rachleff, Martha Schulman, Lauren Wittels, and the Studio Visit session is led by a new artist every season. Past visits included Diana Al-Hadid, Jules de Balincourt, Jill Baroff, Kate Gilmore, Brian Lund, Stefana McClure, Bruce Pearson, and Rina Banerjee (forthcoming). Every two years, an Art Critic in Residence serves as a faculty member: Christian Viveros-Fauné (2010 and 2011), Joseph R. Wolin (2012 and 2013), and Eleanor Heartney (2014 and 2015).

The sessions are primarily held on Tuesdays from 6 – 8 pm and Saturdays from 3 – 5 pm. Topics covered include: Community, Grant Writing, Writing Workshop, Copyright, Contracts, Art Market, Studio Visit, Art Criticism, and Marketing.
